Selina came to daycare with Payton today to share a very special book with us, "My Friend has Down Syndrome." Mrs. K's kindergarten class joined us, too! Thanks Selina!
Salmo Public Library Children's Librarian, Marianne Hansen, brought us some special Halloween stories today. Thank you Marianne.
We are so excited to be making our first major change, since we opened in 1998! The addition of Infant/Toddler Care to our list of services will complete the list of child care options we offer.
We expect a classroom at Salmo Elementary School to be ready for us very soon. Our goal is to move our Preschool and School-Age Care programs into the school for our September 14 Preschool start date, and then to offer Infant/Toddler Care in the room at the Salmo Children's Centre. We will be contacting parents on our wait list very soon. Stay tuned.... Staff are excited to announce a new snack program being introduced in our School-Age Program starting March 1, 2016. For only $1 per day, the children who are present will get a substantial after school snack.
The link below will lead you to our snack schedule for March. We will be starting with some healthy basics, but will get more creative as the children let their preferences be known. /uploads/5/1/0/5/51058149/after_school_snack_notice_mar._16.doc Crystal, the Early Years program coordinator from COINS (Circle of Indigenous Nations) visited us today to share drumming, songs and stories from Kookum (Grandma) and her family.
Today we baked gingerbread cookies. Eight cookies went into the oven, but only 7 cookies were there when we went to take them out of the oven! Where did that other cookie go? Are these some tiny footprints heading out the gate? Will we ever see that cookie again?
