![]() It's been quite a year for bees and wasps! The children had a chance to confront some of their fears and answer some of their questions when our beekeeping friends, the May Family, visited to show us about these amazing creatures. Several children got to try on the beekeeper suit, and check out the smoker that puffs smoke into the hive, making the bees leave temporarily. The children learned that the bees have a long tongue which sucks nectar up from the flowers. We all enjoyed trying honey fresh from the hive! ![]() In the preschool program, teacher Mira has been exploring the teachings of the medicine wheel with the children. These have become our “ground rules” which everyone follows while they are here. To extend this experience, we made a wheel together, which now hangs in our classroom. Throughout the year, stories are told from the perspectives of animals to reflect the teachings of the medicine wheel. Usually the stories will reflect skills that a purticlular class is needing to explore further. |
