A Proud History

The Salmo Child Care Society, formerly known as the Salmo Playschool Society, has operated Hearts n’ Hands Preschool since 1992. In 1995, the Society applied for, and subsequently received, a grant for a School-Based Child Care Project. The Society changed its name and purposes in 1996, to better suit the expanding services they would provide. In the fall of 1998 the School-Based project was complete, Hearts n’ Hands Preschool and the new Daycare and Out of School Care programs started the school year in a beautiful new location. Many years of negotiating and fundraising saw an expansion to include care for infants and toddlers in the fall of 2016.
In the fall of 2019, in response to parent requests for a longer preschool class, our Junior Kindergarten program replaced our licensed preschool.
The staff and board of the Salmo Child Care Society have contributed many volunteer hours to accomplish the goal of creating a wonderful Children’ s Centre for the children of Salmo. They are very proud of the result.
